Benefiting a school or a particular aspect of our work
Unrestricted legacies to the GDST are of particular benefit since they allow us to target income to meet the areas of greatest need and priority for our students and schools. Currently, unrestricted giving, including such legacy bequests, are directed primarily to the Minerva Bursary Fund, which supports hundreds of girls across Trust schools each year.
Many donors do choose to support a particular school or special aspect of our work and we will always follow benefactors’ wishes, as long as it is practicable to do so. There can be potential complications if requests are defined too narrowly, for example, if a specific capital project has been completed, or if an individual school ceases to offer a particular subject. We shall be happy to discuss and advise on your intentions.
If you do wish to support a particular aspect of our activities this should be inserted at ** in the above wordings, for example, and express the wish, without imposing any binding obligation, that it be used “for the benefit of XX High School” or “for the Minerva Fund” or “for providing resources for school laboratories/libraries/IT/Gap Year projects” etc.
Acknowledging your support
With your permission, GDST would welcome the opportunity to recognise your commitment to the future of our students. There are many ways in which this can be done, depending on your intentions and the nature of your gift. We should be delighted to discuss connecting your name, or someone close to you, with any aspect of our activities, in perpetuity.
