ATTENTION ALL 2000 LEAVERS !  YOUR TIME HAS COME!

The 5-Year Leaver’s Lunch took place on Saturday 19th November 2005 in the 6th Form Centre.

CLASS OF '99 REUNION

On Saturday 20th November, members of the PHS Upper Sixth class of '99 met up for a five year reunion, organised by the Old Girls Guild and held over lunch in the Sixth Form Centre. This was an immensely enjoyable event, and we welcomed the opportunity to catch up on each others news and hear about all the exciting (and incredibly varied) things that people have been involved in since leaving. In my official capacity (!) I was able to give my former classmates a tour, and they all commented on how much things here have changed and developed in the last five years, and just how fantastic our school is looking.

HINTON REUNION

A small group of former evacuees met at Hinton for a picnic and walk round the gardens in June. The tree that we planted in 2000 was looking well established.  In 2005 it will be 60 years since the school left Hinton to return to Portsmouth and it would be nice if we could have a really good reunion gathering there on 26th June – 13.15 in the car park.

1977 LEAVER'S REUNION

On Saturday 15th September 2007, a great time was had at our 30 year reunion of Portsmouth High School girls. We did our O levels in 1975 and our A levels in 1977. We identified 78 people that were in our year at some point over the 7 years of senior school.

Of the 50+ that we located, 35 attended part, or all, of the reunion - a great turn out of people from all over England and Wales with one girl coming from Portugal.

In the afternoon, we were warmly welcomed at school by Mrs Clough, the current headmistress, and a few members of staff, including Mrs Spender who could remember us (was this a good thing or a bad thing, I wonder). The anxiety of whether we would recognise and remember each other soon turned to an exciting buzz as the memories came flooding back and the years melted away. It was fantastic to be shown around school. We saw how much school has changed and yet it was great to walk into those old classrooms, immediately remembering where we each sat, who was our form teacher and some of the things we got up to.

We reconvened in the evening in a function room in a local pub and continued to renew old friendships and share memories. We all had such fun that we plan to get together again in 2 years time.
