The GDST/HSBC Summer School will take place from 21st - 27th June 2008 at the University of Nottingham's Ningbo Campus in China.
The GDST has a 10-year track record of running residential courses for our sixth formers, and 2007 was our third Summer School held at the University of Nottingham’s Nightingale Hall. It is an opportunity for GDST sixth formers as well as sixth formers from other schools with links to the HSBC Global Education Trust, to come together for an intense weekend of learning, activity and fun.
Students from the UK and China will be working together on an innovative week-long summer school this June, with the help of HSBC and the University of Nottingham.
The theme is 'Celebrating cultural diversity through teamwork and innovation' and will focus on developing the leadership and creativity skills of the students as part of working in a team, as well as demonstrating the importance of diversity and the ability to work well with others, through a series of group work, tasks and presentations.
The week isn't all work and there will be plenty of opportunity to experience the local sites and culture on the three day trips during the visit, one to the local city of Ningbo; one to the scenic area of Hangzhou and on the final day we will visit Shanghai!
The Summer School involves sixty Year 12 Sixth Form students, both girls and boys, from ten GDST and three HSBC schools in the UK, and thirty undergraduate students from Nottingham University, Ningbo.
